AotPR part 8c - "Timelapse Mini-me..."
A couple of weeks ago I visited Luca Vascon in Venice, and fancied doing some panning timelapse movies while I was there. Venice is not a suitable place for carrying around big chunky gear, so I decided to make a minimised 'cut-down' version of the LEGO panohead.
No aluminium extrusion this time, just LEGO beams.
On a table-tripod.

Underneath, showing the mounting point for the tripod.

Close-up showing attachment of tripod to turntable.

A couple of close-ups showing the direct drive wormgear to the turntable.

Not enormously elegant, but it does the job, and it will even fit in a camera bag.
The focussing rail on top allows me to move the camera back and forth so that the centre of gravity is pretty much over the turntable. I've found out through experience that the LEGO turntables aren't very strong...
The LEGO-photographic equipment joins were pretty easy - leave a one-unit gap in the beams and clamp it all together with a couple of big washers.
I've not got around to uploading the timelapse movies yet, but hope to do so this week...
