Cubic VR in Flash -- Almost there?

Thomas Rauscher announced very recently a modular addition to his software, called "FlashPack". FlashPack will allow Pano2QTVR users to export fully cubic Flash-based panoramas, which can then be displayed solo on the Web or (I assume) as integrated into an interactive Flash-based project.

This is very exciting stuff -- I'd write more about my experiences here, but alas, Pano2QTVR is Windows only. I hope Thomas hears my plea and finds the time to create a Mac version of his application. :-) (please, no comments about running Windows on my Macbook, unless you're willing to send me $$ to buy WinXP :-P )

More info and examples at Thomas's Web site!

A few initial Flash-based panos

Here is my first attempt with Thomas' Flash Pack addition:

I'm trying to find the best parameters for a compromise between a smoother rotation and decrease of wavy lines.

More sand will be thrown/eaten tomorrow. . . :^)

Here's sand in your eye...

Hey Hoyle:

Thanks for the post -- Andras Frenyo had an example of one of his, too, and while his had absolutely no waviness the interactive performance was hugely impacted.

I'm sure there's a happy medium somewhere, and hopefully Thomas's engine will only improve.

I notice on your examples that the waviness persists even when not in motion.
