telescope presentation possible with LSP?

Hello folks, (sorry for cross-posting to the apple-vr-list)

I need to built some kind of telescope presentation for exhibition use:

Basically, the visitor will see a LCD screen with a start image, asking him to turn the screen. (the visitor needs to step around the screen while turning it). As soon as he does, the cylindrical panorama shows up and turns according to the rotation of the LCD. At certain points, hotspots should trigger text information blocks to show up. If left alone, the presentation should show the start image again after an idle time of e.g. 30 sec.

I would guess this could be solved in Director, but maybe it can be done with LiveStagePro (which has the advantage, that I own it) as well?

Controlling the horizontal movement is done by a normal computer mouse, mounted inside the POI above a platform, turning underneath it. How can I restrict the mouse movement signals to left/right only? (It is probably impossible to mount the mouse precisely to restrict signal changes to left/right only)

Can the solution be easily put into some kind of startup folder on a windows pc so that the staff only needs to turn on the system?

Any help greatly appreciated,

Yours,
Michael

Re: telescope presentation possible with LSP?

Any reason in particular you're stuck with QuicktimeVR?
SPi-V can be easily adapted to do just this.

Re: telescope presentation possible with LSP?

I'm not really stuck: I haven't just begun. To me this seems to be a typical Director application, but I think a LSP project should do as well. The last time I used LSP, it gave me a good deal of trial and error work since this program died a few month after I had bought it - hence this forum. If I was familiar with Flash, I would tend to display the panorama with FPP - but well, yes, Spi-V would be great considering the display quality. Maybe I could contact you offlist. I just didn't want to choose a technology only to find out later, that it can not be done that way.

Yours,
Michael
