First Time Poster RE: IPIX
I have used IPIX and with their demise, I have tried to find some help on how to convert to another software or beg other IPIX users to stich my graphics. If I've followed this discussion, IPIX Store is still offering keys or Licenses, is that correct? I have the IPIX package with the Interactive Studio. My annual license was up on August 15. I've gone to the store and can purchase a license for $999 but with all that's going on, I don't want to flush this down the toilet. I have fisheye photos, and can still use IPIX, but get the "proof" or watermarked version when viewed on the net. I'm using the VR as a training tool in a web based training application. I've looked at the other VR software packages and it appears that easyPano would work best for my application. However, what I need to know after reading the "chat" notes of last weekend is:
1. If I have the IPIX images stiched by someone who has an active license, will that VR be available indefinitely?
2. If I lay down $999 with the IPIX Store will I really get a license renewal?
3. Ar IPIX viewers dead? In my training class, I use ToolBook with an Java aplet to show the VR. Is it necessary to have a seperate viewer?
I wish I'd found this site earlier. Sorry for all the questions, but I'm tired of Googling IPIX support and trying to piece together a solution, minus the boloney that goes with this type of effort.
Thanks!!
Mike

I'd consider getting the
I'd consider getting the trial copy of ptgui. You will also need
"pano12.exe (253KB) MinGW version (slower by 25% to 50%, but stable)." from http://www.photocreations.ca/panotools/ in order to use fisheye lenses (its free).
Then start ptgui trial, load your two fisheye images, change the image type to circular and go to the crop tab adjust the crop circle to match your image, click apply to all images and then to back to the first tab. Click on the generate control points button and you will then probably find you get a nicely stitched pano. Click on the create panorama button to stitch it properly.
You will then have an equiterectangular jpg image you can load with any viewer system forever. Ptgui is not the most intuitive software but for what you want you only need to do fairly easy stuff. The advantage is it has the best stitches around and is cheap at about a hundred dollers. You would still need viewer softare, ptviewer or immervision if you don't mind fidling a bit or quicktime with pano2qtvr and pagegeot perhaps. Or 3dvista and easypano do pricier publishing software which will organise the java applets for your.
If you really can't face any fuss the closest to ipix software is probably easypano.com photovista which will stitch images but is quite expensive.
