- Biography
Robert Thien studied commercial and contemporary photography at Rochester Institute of Technology in New York. In 1986 he moved to New York City to work with nationally acclaimed photographer Mark Ross. This creative alliance propelled Thien into a career as an interior and architectural photographer.
He moved to Atlanta in 1991, forming Robert Thien Photography, to market his photography services to publications, advertising agencies, and architectural firms. Upon his relocation to Atlanta, Thien established a working relationship with Architectural Digest, Interior Design and numerous other national and international publications. Elton John's Atlanta residence and John Mellencamp's residences are among Thien's interior photography work. Thien's corporate projects include the Las Vegas Hilton and UPS Innoplex.
As his career progressed, Thien developed a keen interest in digital imagery. More than three-fourths of his jobs are now photographed digitally. His photography business has expanded to include VR immersive photography. He is currently active on the board of directors of the IVRPA.
When not working as a professional photographer, Robert Thien enjoys gardening, home building and design projects, looking at the moon and spending time with his family.
